Cynthia's career began after she relocated to New York in order to develop into a fashion designer. Cynthia was soon signed to a five year contract to Wihelmina Models, which led her to a very successful first book as the cover model of Essence Magazine. Cynthia's Essence cover that was the most-sold in magazine history, was also Susan Taylor's her favorite. Cynthia's second cover was booked within a short time, setting the tone for a successful career. When she moved to Paris Cynthia was seen strutting down her Paris Fashion Week runways and Milan Fashion Week. After having lived abroad for nearly a year, Cynthia returned to New York City and was highly sought-after for landing advertisements in Maybelline, Oil of Olay and Macy's. Vogue's, Glamour's, Elle's Essence's Vanity Fair magazine editorials soon were followed. One of her most memorable professional highlights was when she was chosen over Naomi Campbell for a co-starring part alongside Sandra Bernhadt in the film "Without You I'm Nothing."
