Scarlett Johansson is an American actress and performer born in the city of New York, in the United States on the 22nd of November in 1984. Her performances have earned her acclaim across a wide range of genres including period dramas, thrillers and action adventures. Johansson is the daughter of a film producer and an architect. The family is from New York City. The twin brothers Hunter and her were her youngest siblings. By the time she was seven years old, her passion for acting was growing. Her first audition was for commercials. Then she began her studies at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute and afterwards took classes at the Professional Children's School in Manhattan to further refine her skills. In the year she turned eight old, Johansson starred alongside Ethan Hawke as Sophistry in an Off-Broadway show. At the age of nine her debut film was Rob Reiner's North (1994). Johansson appeared next in Just Cause (1996), however she was Manny & Lo 1996 that made her famous. The film tells the story of two girls orphaned by their parents who run away. The Horse Whisperer (2000), in which she played the role of a teenage girl who has a deformity due to an accident garnered her critical acclaim. In Ghost World 2001 (as the young, sarcastic teenager Rebecca), Johansson gained an even greater amount of attention.
